Mithras
Mithras
We all know the ancient Prince of London.
Today I was overlooking the Fall of London book from V5. According to the sourcebook, Roger de Camden could perform a ritual to restore Mithras to his full strength. He needed certain items to perform it and this items were from the past imbued by Mithras' essence. Those chosen by the book were a ceramic goblet, a phrygian cup, a ruby ring, an egyptian dagger and his official seal.
I'd like to add a little flair to this.
Mithras is considered a god and he clashed with gods before. First, his embrace by the Ventrue Antediluvian. Second, his meeting with Haqim himself in 121 AD, London. And third, his clash with Horus, the avenger in 1212, London. Now lets tinker a bit with his background. He was Prince in Pasargadae around 341 BC, that's our first confirmed event since his embrace by Victorian Age trilogy. Then came the publishing of Lair of the Hidden in which him embraced Cretheus in Ecbatana, 430 BC ([persian solder] hadn't take Mithras as his name yet) . We know that he ruled Parsa at least from 341 BC (most probably earlier than this) up to 325 BC, in which the mortal Noushad ousts the Prince, under Kemintiri's influence (Victoria Age trilogy). Now to the fun stuff. How many Cainites did the Prince hosted during that time? We know that Alexander the Great conquered the persians around that time and therefore he most probably met the Black Mother, the eldest childe of the Ravnos Antediluvian, and her childe Phaedyme. Cappadocius was known to dialogue with Alexander the Great around this period, could this be a motive towards his respect to Roger de Camden? He might probably met Critias during one of his travels (it is confirmed he traveled widely during this time). The most significant event could be an early clash with Tiamat, since it was her who arranged Alexander the Great's death. Could the Ventrue Antediluvian arranged this to happen?
Where do I go with this? This items from Fall of London could be so much more.
I remember the Victorian Age trilogy, which I LOVED, and the ritual Anton Wellig attempted to execute in order to safely diablerize the Prince but it got interrupted by Lady Merritt (Kemintiri) and Regina Blake. His blood was procured by Valerius while the catalyst of the ritual was the unique Ducheski blood of Emma Blake a.k.a. Emiliana Ducheski (Regina Blake's mother).
My point here is, if Mithras fell during the events of Fall of London and Emma Blake's soul is still on Dante Giovanni's hands (Beckett's Jyhad Diary). What could prevent Dante Giovanni from getting Mithras' soul and finish Anton Wellig's ritual for himself? The obvious answer is Roger de Camden. Perhaps Mithras' former seneschal secures the Prince's soul to prevent anyone from seizing it, but a combined effort of necromantic abilities might thwart this intention. This line of thought might give several story seeds to those canon inclined STs.
When he perished back in '91, he fought and defeated an entire sept of werewolves. A common theory from the old white-wolf forum days were that his diablerie was actually a gift given by Haqim himself, knowing that the ancient soul would overcome the neonate. This was most probably against his own will, but yet the childe of Veddartha would understand his position in the Jyhad.
Now that we have all this rich history of Prince Mithras, alternate items can be:
- The Sword of Nul (he could have clashed with Tiamat and found he couldn't overpower her, the first time he didn't triumph over an enemy).
- A destroyed remnant from the Tower of London after Mithras' fight with Horus.
- The first cuneiform tablet of the "Love Canticle to Mithras the Great" written by Kemintiri through one of her scribes. They can be in the British museum (I'm a big fan of Irving Finkel and Jonathan Taylor btw).
- Kemintiri's heart (good luck finding that one!). She was the only known Cainite he loved.
- Victoria Ash's blood, she was the one who drained Regina Blake and turned her into a vampire (Regina Blake's mortal blood, therefore 1/2 of Emma Blake's blood, was the catalyst used by Anton Wellig's ritual that threw the Prince into madness).
- Regina Blake's cross. It's imbued with faith and it hurt Kemintiri during the events of Victorian Age trilogy. This is the cross that made Kemintiri flee from Mithras after they both agreed to leave together. This made the Prince shed a single crimson tear.
- A werewolf fetish bathed in Mithras' blood used in battle against him when he rose from torpor.
- The vaulderie cup in which Monty Coven performed his last vaulderie before diablerizing Mithras.
That's all for now. Probably will expand this later.
